Important Announcement from the Mount Washington Board of Health

If you are trying to make an appointment for a vaccination in Berkshire County and are finding that all of the appointments are filled …..

  • Keep checking the website. As vaccine is made available to the local clinics, they will open more appointments. The vaccine is shipped weekly, and availability of appointments depends upon having the vaccine allocation confirmed by the Massachusetts Department of Health.
  • If a particular slot is filled, check to see if there is a Waiting List option. Not all clinics use this option. If it is available, the clinic managers will get in touch with you on that same day IF they have extra vaccine available. These are short-time notices, and you need to be willing to show up when they call. Once that clinic closes for that particular day, this information will NOT be carried forward. It is best to make a confirmed appointment reservation at a later clinic rather than relying on wait lists, but it is an option.
  • You may find having one of the volunteers at a local senior center helpful in making a reservation. You may contact them directly.
  • Use the Hotline number 413-449-5575 for up-to-date information.
  • There is a new website that went live this morning which will also be of help:http://getvaccinatedberkshires.org
  • If you go to a clinic for a vaccination, be sure to wear a short-sleeve or loosely-fitting long sleeve shirt. There are no privacy screens at these clinics and we have to be able to get to your upper arm!
  • You will need to bring ID (photo) with you for verification of eligibility at the site. If you are not eligible, you will be turned away.

Please understand that we are doing everything possible to get everyone vaccinated as quickly as we can.

If you have taken advantage of the mass.gov information and none of the other resources above are successful for you, do not hesitate to reach out to me. My email is ellielovejoy@townofmtwashington.com. We have volunteers who are able to help.

Public Notice – Jan. 15, 2021

PUBLIC NOTICE
JANUARY 15, 2021

As many of you will have noticed, Mount Washington is now indicating a RED Zone designation on the COVID 19 Maps for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We had five positive cases reported on January 14, 2021. It is important to understand that these zone designations are based on a statistical algorithm. Because our population is so small a small number of cases within the town will have a much bigger statistical impact.

The individuals who have tested positive have been contacted by the Contact Tracing Collaborative and/or the Board of Health and they have been given the required information to help them through the situation.

If you are not contacted by our Health Board or the Contact Tracing Collaborative (CTC) you are not considered to be at risk for COVID 19. If you do not feel well, contact your healthcare provider. If you do not have one, please call the Berkshire Health Systems hotline at 855-262-5465 (855 BMC-LINK) and they will assist you.

As always, we ask that you take the standard precautions seriously. Wear your masks whenever you are in public or carpooling with people you are not living with. Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face. Limit non-critical travel – shopping in person for items that are not absolutely necessary is not a good idea. Take advantage of curb-side delivery for groceries and pharmacy needs if you can. Use take-out food sparingly; cooking at home is the best idea. Meals and/or groceries can be delivered if you are unable to manage. Do not hesitate to call the Board of Health Agent at 413 528-1798. All calls are absolutely confidential.

Even though there are “gathering” guidelines – public AND private – avoid gatherings if at all possible.

The Berkshire Health Systems patient portal at berkshirehealthsystems.org will get you all of the information you need for vaccine availability and access to vaccinations. If you are not using Berkshire Health Systems the DPH site at mass.gov/covid19 will be the best resource for you.
