Part-Time Animal Control Officer – Vacancy

The Town of Mount Washington is seeking applicants for the position of part-time Animal Control Officer.

This position comes with an annual salary of $1,500 per year with the possibility of mileage reimbursement and additional pay depending on the number of active responses during a given calendar year.

This position works under the direction of the Select Board and responsibilities include:

  • The investigation of animal related complaints and problems such as reports of animal cruelty, dog/cat bites, nuisance/dangerous dog complaints, sick or injured wildlife.
  • Provides various animal control related services; may also provide services to other towns as part of inter-municipal agreements.
  • Has the ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with the public and provide services with professionalism, be of good character, reliable, and have a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Is familiar with all applicable state and local regulations pertaining to animal control duties and responsibilities.

Training Requirements: – Massachusetts Animal Fund Animal Control Officer Training Institute Program. All ACOs are required to complete 30 education credits (ECs) in their first training year. The Massachusetts Animal Fund Animal Control Institute’s Core Competencies Training is mandatory for all ACOs and worth 16 ECs.

Occasional night and weekend hours required for time sensitive and emergency situations involving animals or wildlife.

A valid driver’s license is required.
