The 3-member Historical Commission currently consists of Judy Whitbeck and Elizabeth Kasevich, with one open position.  Our former member, Peg Whitbeck, was one of the commission’s founding members and avid self-professed historians.  Peg loved researching family genealogy, she had a wealth of historical knowledge, could verbally pinpoint where most everything worthy of knowing was and could back it up with documents.  She spear-headed the Signage Project to place historical markers along 5 locations in the town of historical significance in Mt Washington.  Peg was also a founding member of the Mount Washington Historical Society.

The Mount Washington Historical Commission was established for the preservation, protection, and development of the historical assets of the Town of Mount Washington.

Anyone interested in the function of the Commission may find that information by going to the State of Massachusetts website: www.mass.gov and searching Chapter 40 Section 8D.

If you have an interest in historical properties, search Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System known as MACRIS .  The Mt. Washington Commission plans to add updates as they come and historical data to the town’s website.  To find the Historical Commission on the town’s web site go to www.townofmtwashington-ma.gov, look for Contact Information.  We are under Boards, Committees and Depts.

Commissioners:  Judy Whitbeck, Elizabeth Kasevich.
